SAIC Volkswagen Co., Ltd. (referred to as "SAIC Volkswagen") is a Sino-German joint venture, which is jointly operated by SAIC and Volkswagen Group. The company signed the foundation in October 1984 and is one of the oldest automobile joint ventures in China. The company is headquartered in Anting, Shanghai, and has established production bases in Nanjing, Yizheng, Urumqi, Ningbo, Changsha and other places.
SAIC Volkswagen currently produces and sells two brands of Volkswagen and Skoda, covering A0, A, B, C, SUV, MPV and other market segments. Among them, Volkswagen brand models include a new generation of Polo Plus, Santana family, Lavida family, Lingdu, Passat, Huiang, Tiguan, Tuang, Tuyue, Tukai, Touran, Viloran and other product series; Skoda brand models have new Xin Rui , Brand-new Xindong, Octavia family, Super, Kediak, Keluoke, Kemic and other product series.
At the same time, the company actively entered the new energy vehicle market and has launched Tiguan L plug-in hybrid version, Passat plug-in hybrid version, and LaVida pure electric vehicles. The Volkswagen Group's first MEB pure electric vehicle plant in the world started construction in October 2018 and was completed in November 2019. The first ID. car was off the assembly line. In the future, the new plant will put into production a new generation of pure electric vehicles based on the MEB platform.
