Title: Senior dev/lead for Bing online Metrics
We are looking for a strong developer with lead potential or experience to join our Bing Online Metrics team, which is responsible for understanding how users engage with Bing search engine (bing.com) and translate that into actionable org level metrics. Online metrics are the fundamental in entire Bing org. Different feature teams are relying on our metrics to measure and quantify success. We are keeping improving and iterate the metrics to reflect the new research in user satisfaction on Bing and drive long-term success of Bing. We are a team full of high caliber, talented, passionate developers.
Responsibilities
As a senior member on the metric team, you would work closely with several teams across Bing to understand how users interact with their feature, what it means for a user to be satisfied with a search engine and what makes a user stay and choose one search engine over another. This work is foundational to how the Bing stack is optimized – be it ranking, visual changes, ad placement etc. You will take ownership of an area, be responsible for organizing the team efforts, coordinating and prioritizing the backlog, scheduling and execution.
Qualifications
1. MS or PhD degree in computer science, statistics, applied mathematics or related engineering field
2. 5+ years of experience as an Applied scientist/Data scientist/Software developer on large scale software development and familiarity with one or programming languages such as Java, C#, Python
3. Prior experience of working as a senior/lead role in Applied scientist/Data scientist/Software developer
4. Fundamental knowledge in A/B experimentation, statistics and mathematics: p-values, confidence intervals, etc.
5. Ability to work with ambiguous problems and scope and deliver results on own
6. Ability to be productive and effective in a highly collaborative environment
7. Strong communication and collaboration skills
8. Experience with building machine learning models on large scale data is a plus
9. Fluent communication in English is required
